Paths to Peace: small steps to change.
On Saturday, September 18th 2010 JGIS celebrated the UN International Day of Peace. We held a peace dove parade, a meditation for peace workshop, and a tribute to peace work in Afghanistan. Dozens of young people entered our 'Paths to Peace' art/essay competition 'What peace means to me', expressing through art and poetry why peace is so important. Priyanka Aiyer won a copy of Jane Goodall's book 'Reason for Hope' for her essay 'Serpent of Peace'. You can read the essay here. The day was truly heart warming and the message 'why not love', shouted by all the peace paraders for our friends in Afghanistan, came out loud and clear. We sent them the film of the Peace Parade, the tribute to their peace-building efforts and the day's events. You can watch it here.

CHANGE
“If only we could overcome cruelty with compassion we should make a giant stride toward achieving our ultimate human potential, moving beyond the Age of Reason to the Age of Love.”
