Young People
Do you want to make a difference but don't know how? Would you like to make the world a better place but think you can't because you're just one person? Maybe you even think 'what can I do – I'm just a kid!' Think again! More than anyone else, YOU are the person who can make a difference. Why? Because you have the energy, passion and imagination to do what it takes to change the world.
QUOTES FROM SINGAPORE'S YOUNG PEOPLE
'My vision for the future is to see people using their individual talents for a cause, to pass the message though their power – be it writing, art, music, speech, charisma, dance, drama. Whether to friends, family or even the community at large. This way, the message, the call for help, will be heard.'
My vision for the future:
When EVERYBODY wakes up and realises what they are doing to the environment and they start working hard to improve it.'
My vision is to have whole forests replanted so that endangered species can thrive again.'
'My vision is that animal abuse will be stopped and people will start appreciating and loving animals.'
'I hope to challenge the pessimistic outlook in being able to make a change for a cause in Singapore....I see that not only is it possible, but that I can be part of the solution! With my unique talents, be it photography, going into advertising... or writing!'
Young people are really good at something adults have often forgotten to do, and that is to ask two questions: 'why?' and 'why not?' Why do we throw away litter? Why not recycle? Why are we cutting down the rainforest? Why not find a way to plant trees instead of destroying them? Why chase away wild animals when we see them? Why not try to understand their behaviour, their feelings and their wonderful ways? Why can't we help? Why not try, today?
Take action and be an environmental leader in your school and community. There are lots of ways to get involved: try looking at our Roots & Shoots page first. Or you can send us an email at info@janegoodall.org.sg We look forward to hearing from you!
